▸ Painless endoscopic examination is different from general anesthesia.
▸ Painless Gastroscopy
Gastroscopy is also called as “Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy”. Gastroscopy is an examination of upper gastrointestinal tract using a soft tube-like device (GIF-H260Z, Olympus Medical System), which combines a 110 cm long soft tube with a high definition (HDTV) imaging device at the end of tube, Narrow Band Imaging (NBI), optical magnification (by 100X) to produce large clear images of the gastrointestinal tract, and PACS image processor. An auxiliary water jet flushes away debris, for a clear view during diagnostic gastroscopy. The endoscope is passed through the mouth, into the esophagus and down towards the stomach and duodenum. The examination takes about 3 to 5 minutes. The gastroscopy is used for the detection of gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, peptic ulcer, and esophagitis. The cutting-edge video endoscopy system can help to speed up the endoscopic examination for accurate diagnosis of esophageal cancer, early gastric cancer, and other carcinoma without symptoms. The enhanced visualization of capillary networks and mucosal pit pattern with NBI and optical magnification allowed for identification and detection of cancerous lesions in throat, esophagus, cardia, stomach, and colon at an extremely early stage in their development.
▸ Painless Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is also called as “Lower Gastrointestinal Endoscopy”. Colonoscopy is an examination of lower gastrointestinal tract using a soft tube-like device (GIF-H260Z, Olympus Medical System), which combines a 130 cm long soft tube with a high definition (HDTV) imaging device at the end of tube, Narrow Band Imaging (NBI), optical magnification (by 100X) to produce large clear images of the gastrointestinal tract, and PACS image processor. The endoscope is passed through the anus, into the rectum, sigmoid, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon, and up towards the appendix. The examination takes about 10 to 15 minutes. It is reported that doctor’s skill at colonoscopy may affect the detection rate of early colon cancers. Thus the painless colonoscopy without sedation via NBI helps identify the colorectal lesions including colon polyps, early cancerous lesion, and advanced cancers. The cutting-edge video endoscopy system can help to speed up the endoscopic examination for accurate diagnosis of early colon cancers, colon polyps, and other carcinoma without symptoms. CO2 insufflation significantly reduces bloating and pain during and after routine colonoscopy and makes patients feel more comfortable.
